Show Off

Can anyone else see that God is working like HUGE right now. Like everywhere I turn, He is working in a circumstance. He is bringing purpose to pain. He is restoring families. He is delivering His word in to the hands of people who are hungry for Him. He is healing His church. So I say...God keep doing your thing and just keep Showing Off!!! I love to see God. Please share with the people around where you see Him working!

God works in the situations that really don't make sense at the time. But in His time He will reveal the purpose for the journey! Please know my friends, that some of you might have seen His purpose a whole lot sooner than me! So no shaking your head thinking...'yikes this poor girl'!

A few weeks ago I was asked to participate in a follow-up group for the movie Fireproof here in my area. To which I responded immediately with "Yes" because I was passionate about the movie and I am also passionate about healthy marriages!! So I started to roll with the process, however something wasn't sitting right with me. I couldn't tell what it was and couldn't even express it in words. I kept praying and seeking God. Desiring to be obedient. Then one day last week at lunch, I was having a hard time eating...which for me is NEVER a problem...food and shoes...food and shoes....food and shoes; they find me! God whispered the name of a person He wanted me to call for "wise council" I made the phone call...and could hear God's speaking right to my heart.

God:

"Nichole I have a purpose for you. One that I have created and wrote specifically for you to fulfill. One that other people might not understand or see at this current time, because its not their purpose. You need to remain obedient to Me and the purpose I have for you. Your obedience is with me, and the purpose I have for you."

Can you see that God has to repeat things for me? Boy am I forever grateful that His love endures forever. That even my weaknesses, my doubting, my confusion, my frustrations, my passion cannot mess up His purposes!

After my phone call with my "wise council"...I knew I had to make one more phone call. I called to say that 'God has something for me, and that I couldn't get in His way'!

This was very hard for me to say no! Can you relate? Having to say no to something that is a good thing, yet it's not "our good thing" cause its for someone else! He has a place for each of us! Oh and how beautiful it works out when we are in the places He created for us.

They arrived at Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. When they asked him to spend more time with them, he declined. But as he left, he promised, "I will come back if it is God's will." Then he set sail from Ephesus. Acts 18:19-21

Paul declined, he was listening to God's purpose for him. I went on to read this section of Scripture. Paul declining was being obedient because he left the spot for Apollos to come. The people in Ephesus did need to hear about Jesus. The spot was for Apollos! That was Gods purpose!

I have to focus on the priorites God has for me. The fact that a need exists doesn't mean God has called me to meet that need. And this girl has learned the hard way...she is not tall enough or big enough to stand up to God and take anyone elses place.

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. 1 Corinthians 3:5-9

Does He want you to plant a seed?

Does He want you to water the seeds that have been planted around you?

May we each live fully and freely in the purpose He has for us!

Then Stand Back and let God Show Off!

Oh, how I relate to your post today. I just said no to something I care deeply about. Because God said come away and rest. It's so hard to accept my position in His field. But I know I cannot be all things to all people. I need to listen to His purpose for me and live that out.

Thank you for this timely message or truth. And I am glad you are listening to His purpose for you!

His seed or watering can, not sure which, :)

Yay! I'm glad God is showing off for you. It is wonderful to see His Hand at work. I don't see Him working in a special area I need Him to work. However, they say when we see or feel it the least, that is when He is working the most.

You are so right about not filling a need just because there's a need. I know so many times people are scared to step up to the plate BUT if no one else will (that is the spot is left empty) then it can provide the courage and determination to get the intended person out of the comfort zone and doing what God wants. Make sense? If the same person always teaching SS then, there's no room for a new person to come in and take the experience.

Hey, I made reference to you in my post today. :-)

I'm glad you are so passionate about marriages. If you want to pray for mine, I'd appreciate it. Basically my Christian husband unbiblically divorced me last November. It's been really hard. He believes God told him the covenant was broken. I still believe in God's power to restore. How can I not hope for reconciliation between two of God's children. Divorce is becoming too popular and it's especially a dishonor between Christians, and Christians who did not break their vows on either part.
Sweet blessings,
Paula

Good take away God equals o, that is why we have to say "no" to some good things, that aren't God's plan for us. Good thinking!

Some time's like to day I just praise God...I prayed hard that I would feel a comfort, peace in hearing his wisdom in going to nursing homes and talking to my Mom. Oh how he walked before every step. He made it so simple...When we seek he certainly knows how to SHOW OFF.
Oops maybe that was SHOW UP...
Either way it was great being in his presence.

Awesome post. The part about being the seed or the watering can really spoke to me. I loved reading that verse. It encouraged me that neither is better they are equally important because God does the watering.

So glad you are seeing God work. I love to see prayers become answered in His timing. It is so beautiful!

Love ya,
Nicole

I'm in an interesting spot, seeing someone new step into a position of ministry. Yet, I had found myself--after tons of passion--just wanting to fade from being involved anymore. (Sigh!) So, I'm sort of back at the beginning in asking, "God, what DO you want me to do?"

I love how you use this Scripture, which has always been a favorite passage of mine. Saw it in a whole new way today--thanks to you!

I had such a light-bulb go on years ago when my pastor said, "When you say 'yes' to something that is not your calling, you are blocking the path for the person who IS called." Wow! I had never thought about it that way before.

I loved reading your post, and I'm thankful for the joy that He gives when we walk in the places where we're called. Go God! (He really is a show-off, isn't He?)

God showed off in our Bible study this morning. I had invited a lady to come and share her testimony with us, and I don't know if there were any dry eyes. They were tears of joy at all that God had brought this dear lady through and how personal He is with each one of us. God is so good!!!!

You're right, your purpose will probably not be mine, but we just have to be obedient to His call on our lives.

Great post as always,
Joy

Oh, girl....I have learned the "can't say yes to everything" lesson the hard way...I used to be so over involved in church that my family joked that I should just move my bed up there.

Oh how hard do we find it (as women) to say no when we see the need. You are so right that, the need doesn't make it our "thing". How wise of you to get out of the way and listen to God's voice.

Yes, I do see God working lately. I am suddenly soooooooooooooo aware of the things going on around me and that perhaps I do have a part to play in it all. If only I knew the part. In the meantime, my eyes on Him I'm enjoying the journey and learning.

Thanks for this post!

Wow! Powerful post! I just love it when God's Word speaks to us so profoundly, and unmistakeably. Even though being obediant is difficult we are blessed immeasurably by it, if not immediately then later! May God bless you as you stand back and let Him show off! Thanks for the encouragement to us all to listen to his voice, be obeidiant and serve the purpose He has for us!
