The Volume of The Voice

I acknowledge the topic of Sex makes many people uncomfortable.

Why? Is it because we have not grasped Gods view of Sex?

It is SO hard to find the right perspective in today’s culture.

The views and voices of Sex that we are bombarded with each day:

The media (Such as:- Songs, Movies, Talks shows, Commercials, Advertising, Magazines)

Sex is always easy between a man and a woman, it just happens naturally

More that one partner is healthy, normal, and more exciting

Staying committed is old-fashioned

Voices of those who would like to minimize the purpose

"Sex is only for men"

"Sex is NOT to be talked about"

"Sex is something for women to just endure"

Voices that would like to share way too much in public, while it may be positive information it offends others sensibilities

Giving too much descriptive and detailed information

"Follow these directions and you will be successful"

Shouting out and claiming that Sex is a right

Voices of certain church fathers

Some church fathers can be found in quotes stating that Sex should be without passion or enjoyment. Or that all Sex is a sin even inside the marriage covenant. With this being found in history it is sure to have been heard, accepted and applied by some, right?

Your mom

Now this is all very dependent on the voice of your own mother. This spectrum goes from strict absolute SILENCE to a mom who lived out her personal Sex life in front of everyone to see. This voice ranges from those who gave wise and helpful advice to those who shared hurtful, negative and possible damaging advice.

Other married people

"Just have Sex with him so you can have children"

"Once you are married Sex will get old real fast, especially once you have been married as long as we have"

"I give him what he wants so that I get what I want, more shopping privileges"

All these voices have influenced our view of Sex.

The purpose of this series is to focus on Gods intended purpose and perspective. To come to Him and seek to hear His voice.

God the creator has a purpose

Will you join me today in praying for the courage and strength to stop hearing these other voices, to be still and seek to hear only One voice?

I know God has something to say and His voice has volume!

We just got back from a three week vacation so I haven't been here from the start of your discussion ... however, sex is another one of those areas of life where TRUTH will set us free to live in the fullness of its blessing!!

So glad you are doing a discussion on this topic!!! The Lord has been speaking to me lately about this topic in regards to our marriage, and the absolute importance of it, hefaling and closeness that it brings etc. I don't know if this has stemmed from you spurring these thoughts or if it happened before. All I know is that I am thankful that you are being obedient to His voice! Thank you!

ooops...the word I meant to type was "healing" instead of "hefaling". :)

Praying and lifting this topic up to the LORD as I know His heart is heartbroken re: the way the world views this subject. It's taken such a beautiful act of love and twisted and turned and manipulated it into something so disgraceful! The world does not seem to hide its view of sex. Constantly, we are confronted with it! As Christians, we too, need not be afraid to speak out!

Thank you, Nichole for following your heart! Love you sweet sister!

Because the act of intimacy between a man and his wife is the closest thing to ultimate intimacy with God, no wonder the enemy will use everyone and everything to lie to us about it.
Thanks so much for your willingness to speak out the truth among all the lies.
Praying hard for you throuhg this.

My story begins:

I was sexually abused growing up and in my 1st marriage. The churches I attended wouldn't allow sex talk and made it seem as if it was a sin. I didn't know how to or what to do in my marriage and felt I was "ok". NOT.

If you're interested in a brief summary of my miracle from God you can find it on my blog. It's titled A Miracle From God.

I have heard so many voices, telling me the wrong thing about sex.
But I know it is God's idea.
It's His gift!
And He doesn't have bad ideas or give dirty gifts. So thankful for the work He has begun in me, so looking forward to continuing the journey with you here!

A godly perspective helps us remember that sex is God's idea, that it's a gift, and that purity will protect us.

The "voices" regarding sex are definitely entrenched into our society's workings like water; you've done a great job of detailing some of those voices. One in particular that stands out to me is those voices that share "way too much" information, including those within Christian circles. I find myself blushing sometimes about the "places we go" in our conversations along these lines.

I'm not a big "sex" talking woman, but I understand the need for healthy perspective and am glad you are doing this series.

Hope you're feeling up to par these days; God's blessings and peace rest upon you this night.
