Ask

Okay so here it goes, I am going to do some true head and heart dumping here today. I need some help figuring out what is going on inside of this little head of mine. I need some open discussion on this; I need you to be honest with your feedback, your comments, and your questions.

Some questions I am rolling around in my head, and maybe you are to:

  • Am I being selfish if I want to live in the center of God’s will and be blessed by Him?

  • Is it prideful to say that I want to love on others as Jesus has loved on me?

  • Why do I sometimes feel all alone when I feel so close to God?

Please let me know your thoughts, and be praying that God will speak to a heart that is open and ready to listen!

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8 (New International Version)

Hey Nichole! Now I'm no expert here but I would answer

No, I don't think you're being selfish to have those desires. I believe that is what God wants us to desire among other things!

No, I don't think it's prideful at all to want to love on others. I think that is wonderful!

And I definately relate to feeling alone at times when I'm close to God - especially when I am choosing to live in "radical obedience." Many people don't get that and don't really want you to push your convictions on them. So it can be hard.

Thanks for being so real, Nichole! :)

1. Just as we desire for our children to be blessed, God desires for us to be blessed! Remember the Prayer of Jabez! He wants nothing more than the very best for us, and for us to desire that, gives God great pleasure!

2. God wants nothing more, also, than for us to love others, as He has loved us. For some, this will be the only "God" they will ever know! I would go so far as to say this is one of our "responsibilities" as His children! Pride is when it's all about us, or how we will look in doing something. If anything, it would be prideful for us NOT to share His love! Also, I heard it said once that you can ask this question, to rule out the good vs. the bad: "Would the devil want me to do this?" If you can answer no, you can rest assured, God would! :)

3. We sometimes feel alone when we are so close to God, because that's when we are on the moutaintop with Him. Think of the eagle...they do not flock together, they are lonely birds. But oh, so powerful! But it is when they are alone on the mountaintops that they shed themselves of their "old" self (feathers, beak, etc.), and become the powerful creatures God intended them to be. I have a wonderful book for you to read: "The Way of the Eagle" by John Arcovio. This book was the turning point in my relationship with God, to say the least! It can be found here: http://www.spiritled.org/Materials.asp

Love you!!

Three things God's word has taught me.
1. Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, soul and strength (that's when you feel his presence)and oh how good is that.
2.You may be the only Jesus they see.Remember the little girl in the fur coat at camp.Let your heart lead you because that's where your Lord lives.
3.Standing firm on the Rock is not always going to be a Mountain it may be just a pebble today and that can very lonely. But when your are alone on that little pebble that's when you cling the most and feel just how Awesome God really is.

So here's my two cents (and it may not mean much more than that!)
I think what your saying is heartfelt but more tough than just about anything else I've ever considered doing. It's my hearts desire to be the bright spot in people's day and to not be so concerned with details that I miss being with people. That being said HOLY COW it's tough to hold to standards but I will say that it can get easier (although I'm in beginning stages so talk to me in a few years). Here's a question: Do you ever feel guilty about all the time wasted on stupid crap even money wasted on dumb stuff that could've been used for the betterment of another life or to make or break their day? Huh I think about that alot. Oh the time I wasted on myself when there's everyone else I could be helping. Lord help us!!
